We would like to introduce you to our 'girls' who have moved into the Fox and Hounds to enjoy a peaceful retirement

They have come to us as ex battery hens, living almost two years of hell in small, indoor cages.
Initially when they arrived they could hardly open their eyes, struggled to stand up, falling and tripping over and would force themselves into small spaces as they struggled to overcome their agoraphobia. It was a heartbreaking sight. But...they are now venturing out of these spaces and to watch them stretch their wings for what must be the first time in their lives and start to enjoy dust baths and sun bath is very special indeed.
If you have booked accommodation with us please feel free to open the hen house and let the girls out in the morning; if you take the trouble to look in the nesting box a little later they may reward you with a fresh egg, which if you collect and take to the kitchen our chef will be happy to prepare for your breakfast.
Our girls came to us via the British Hen Welfare Trust; if you think you might like to give some chickens a happy retirement please visit the website at http://www.bhwt.org.uk/
